After leaving St. John for New Zealand, on December 2 the steamer Waiwera met with tempestuous weather for a few days (says an exohange). On December 4 the vessel ran into a westerly gale; Mountainous eeaj prevailed,, and a -large Quantity of water was shipped. One particularly heavy sea broke a portion of the steam steering gear, putting it out of action end necessitating the use of the hand-steering wheel. Repairs wore soon effected, and the vi>ssel proceeded on her course. The gale lasted until December 9, but with the exception of the incident -mentioned no other damage was done. The remainder of the voyage was made in fine weather. TONGARIRO ARRIVES AT AUCKLAND. The Tongariro, loaded at Liverpool under tho auspices of the F. and S. Lino, should arrive at Wellington on Wednesday next, February 1«. The vessel left Liverpool on December 6, and continued her voyage from Sydney on February 3. She arrived at Auckland late on Wednesday night, and after discharging her northern cargo, will 'come'on to Wellington, where she will unload 3500 tontj. THE ARAHUEA. The Arahuro. is expected to arrive-from the West Coast and Picton at 8 o'clock this morning. She nas 120 tons of general cargo and 350 tons of coal to put out at t'hto port. . The Arahura sails for Picton, Nelson, and the West Coast on Saturday. PJVERINA FOR SYDNEY. The New • Zealand Shipping Company's chartered stqamer Waiwcra left Auckland for Wellington at 6.5 a.m. yesterday in continuation of her voyage from Montreal. She is due here on Saturday morning. After completing tho discharge of her cargo at southern ports she will commence loading in New Zealand, and will leave Wellington tor London early in March. TALAWA DUE SUNDAY. Continuing her voyage from New York tho A. and. A. liner Talawa was to have left Auckland for Wellington yesterday afternoon. She should reach here on Sunday morning, and will oommence discharge \>f her American carjjo on Monday. THE TARAWERA. The Tarawera, which sailed from Auckland, via Gisbornc and Napier, on Tuesday night, is due at Wellington at about 3 o'clock this afternoon. The vessel, after discharging SCO tons of cargo at this port, will proceed to Lyttelton and Dunedin at 10 o'clock t-hi6 evening. INDRAPURA FROM LONDON. The 0. and D. liner ludrapura from London. via Australian and northern ports, arrived in Wellington at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after a voyage of 73 days. The vessel berthed at the Kng's Wharf, whero she will be occupied discharging the Wellington portion of her cargo until Monday, when she sails for Wanganui. ' BARON OGILVY AT DUNEDIN.
