BADGES FOR WOMEN
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Like most other women in New Zealand, I hail with delight the issue of badges to the men who have already done their duty in the war, and to those who are ready to do it. The badges will put tlio wearers in a fair position with the man —and woman —in tlio atroot, and will doubtless assist recruitiug, which is the most important tiling. Now, what about badges for the women who have unselfishly let their husbands or sons go to help in the struggle? Some women hare sent both husßsnd and son, and are bravely doing their best with greatly reduced incomes in lonely homos, to wait and hope for brighter times. Should not these be granted a slight mark of distinction, a little recosnition of their self-sacrifice? No doubt the authorities have had more imnortant, things to consider so far. Still, I think the time has come when they might give attention to this matter. The cost would be trifling, whilst the gratification would be great —I am, eto., UL FOR EMPIRE.
