The Business Committee of the Unionists' Party in the Hojse of Commons privately discussed! with Mr. Runciman (President of the Board of Trade) problems arising out of the restrictions on imports. Mr. Runciman indicated that the War Office's and Admiralty's demands on shipping were so great that restriction was imperative. The deputation particularly called attention to the claims of the Dominions. The deputation urged that Mr. Runciman could accomplish liis aim by taking the imports and giving the Dominions preference. They argued that the present scheme would raise prices without giving any revenue. \ '
