PRUNING KNIFE IN THE SCHOOLS. 3j TeleKranh—Press Association— Cosyrij&t London, February 9. In connection with the economy campaign, the London County Council is considering the question of the reduction by £900,000 of the education vote, including £150,000 in teachers' salaries, £50,000 in the cost of prizes and scholarships, £94,000 in the cleaning and repairing of schools, and 'half a million in new buildings. When the Derby groups are called up, tho teachers in London will be reduced by 3000. The substitutes v.ill t-n chiefly young women, with three months' training.
