4 SUMMARY AND FORECAST AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications are for variable'breezes, south-easterlie6 predominating. Weather changeable. Expect mild, and fair to cloudy conditions generally, with scattered showers. The barometer has a rising tendency in the south, but is likely to fall, especially in the north after from 24 to 36 hours. North-westerly gales, ivitli considerable rain, occurred in and about Cook Strait during Wednesday night. Changeable and showery conditions have been reported in many ports, but fair to cloudy weather, with moderate to strong wcat south-ivest winds, has predominated Ho-day, ' D. a. BATES.
