At the criminal sittings, David Cameron, charged with breaking and entering, was found guilty on the second count, viz., of stealing, and was remanded for sentence. Christian Christenseii was convicted oil a charge of receiving scwt. of assorted jam valued at'£ll 13s. 4d., knowing .it was dishonestly obtained. Tho jury strongly recommended him to luercy oh account of his previous good character. Accused was remanded for sentence. Claude Osmond Barker, convicted on a charge of stealing articles of clothing valued at £12 12s. 3d., the property of the New Zealand Clothing Factory, was relnanded for sentence.' Wanganui, February 8. The Supreme Court opened this morning. . There is only one criminal ease, a. charge against TV. M. Noary of theft from'the person: A true hill was returned. Mr. Justice Edwards expressed gratification at the small criminal calendar. Timaru, February 8. After a hearing lasting all day, the jury acquitted William Tiplady, farmer, of Gcraldiun, on two charges of sheep stealing, 14 from .one neighbour, and four from another. Somo of tho sheep were found with accused's brand on the top of tho other, but not hiding it. • The defence was that the sheep strayed or got boxed and were branded in error in a hurry late in the day. The jury, in acquitting the accused, added a rider that the law should rcf|uivn nil alioop'livitmliiiK to bo douo between suuxisa and sunset. ■,
