IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT SUPPLY
: SEVEN MILLIONS FOR MEAT. ' Since the inception of the ImperialGovernment meat supply scheme (eleven months ago) no less a 6um than ' £7,000,666 has been paid for meat to New Zealand producers. The shipments to:date comprise: ,442,709. quarters beef, 2,420,747 carcasses mutton;'. 3,482,330. carcasses lamb, of which 351,398 quarters, beef, 2,085,148. carcasses mutton, carcasses lamb have already arrived at destination in 58 steamers; 84,029 quarters beef, 274,465 carcasses mutton, -183,727 carcasses lamb are at present en route, and 7,282 quarters , beef,; 60,834. carcasses miitton, 67,557 crtrcasses lamb are on board the three ; steamers at .present loading in the Dominion; i.e.,. the Indrabarah, Pakelia, and Taiiiui. ' Of the 15,000 tens of cheese to be " supplied for-Imperial. Army purposes,, , 5373 tons have been shipned, the payments totalling to date £362,390. The whole of the scheelite produced in the Dominion is also being purchased by the Imperial;;", Government Supply; Branch for the.:'.lmperial Government, and 72 tons haye ; _becii shipped to date, payments -to ..roinina: companies and. producers totalling ,£13,297.
