CITY MEN PARADE TO-DAY
New Zealand's 13th Reinforcements draft is to go into the training cainps and commence its military career this week. The n.c.o.'s for the 15th Reinforcements will make camp at the same time. The 13th draft should number about 2220 men, a third of whom the Wellington Military District has been asked to find. The four military districts are expected to .contribute to the draft as follows:— Auckland Military District 600 Wellington Military District 751 Canterbury Military District 514 Otago Military District 355 Dominion total 2,220 The quotas have been allotted according to the percentage of men of military age in the districts, as shown in the National Register. Those percentages are: — Auckland Military District 27 Wellington Military District 33.8 Canterbury Military District 23.2 Otago Military District ...' 16. The Wellington District, which is divided into the under-mentioned groups, is to send men according to the following table:—Group 5 is Wellington City and Suburbs; 6, Manawatu and Wnnganui; 7, Hawke's Bay and Povortv Bay; "a, Wairarapa; and 8. Mounted 37 27 24 18 26 132 Artillery 16 11 10 8 10 55 Engineers 9 7 6 4 6 32 Signal ... 3 2 11 1 8 Infantry 139 100 90 67 97 493 A.S.C. ..4 3 3 2 3 15 Ambulance 5 3 3 2 3 16 Total .. 213 153 137 102 146 751 The total men each group is sending in, including 15th n.c.o.'s, is: City. .' 230 Manawatu 164 Hawke's Bay 143 'Wairarapa •. ;.... 105 ■ Taranaki 154 District total 796 For the 45 n.c.o.'s required from the district, the groups are being drawn upon as follow:—City 17, Manawatu 9, Hawke's Bay 6, Wairarapa 3, Taranaki 9. Wellington City will probably be the first group in New Zealand to mobilise its men for this draft. The City men were originally called up for Tuesday, But at the eleventh hour it was announced that they must parade to-dav, and camp at the Drill Hall, Buckle Street, till Tuesday. Between their pawling at the Drill Hall and their leaving for camp they are to be put through "dont.-l inspection." .The men will go into camp as follows :— Mounted R.iflcs. Army Servico Corps, and Veterinary Corps to Featherstam Artillery, Engineers, Signal Service; and Infantry to Trentham. Field Ambulance to Awapuni.
