BULGARIAN HORROR

MASSACRE OF SERBIANS THREE HUNDRED MURDERE! A GHASTLY STORY By TelecraDli—Press Aeioclatlon—Copyrlitl (Rec. February G, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 4. Mr. Ward Price reports a ghastlj story based, on an eye-witness's accouni of a Bulgar massacre of Serbian prison ers at l'riler. The Bulbars dug a hugegrave and brought out three hundreo prisoners, somo of them boys, others, greybeards, who bad no idea of iheii fate until at tho graveside. Here they were lialtcd for an hour until eighty Bulgar cavalry arrived, when the captain, speaking iii ordered each Serbian to bind the eyes of his neighbour. Thare was-a pitiable scene, the youtlis weeping and imploring for pity, the older men shouting defiance. When the Serbians had been blind-' folded with stripes of torn waistcloths, the captain shouted to the prisoners, "Now crouch down." The Serbians obeyed. "Stark work," cried the captain. The Bulgar infantry formed a, large cordon, and tho cavalry, cantering in, rode on the kneeling throng with yells, and with cruel delight stashed and thrust mercilessly. The Serbians tried to seizo the dripping sabres, as now an arm and now a leg was slashed off. Other Serbians tore off the bandages and seized the legs of the murderers in an attempt to unhorse them; others dashed at the cordon of infantry, but these saw red, and rau to meet tho Serbians, lunging in their bayonets and crying gleefully, "We are driing. this out of charity to spare you- dying of hunger." After half an hour the captain ordered, the infantry to thrust the Serbians into the grave, and shovel oil the earth, regardless of whether they were living or dead. Mr. Ward I'rice adds, "It is time the Foreign Office realised that the Bulgas have not reached the normal standard of morality of Western Europeans."
