e MORE MONEY WANTED.

Aibouf. half a million sterling, has been used by the Y.M.C.A. throughout tho world for the benefit of soldiers, hale or ill—near the firing line, a.t hospital bases, and in camps. This year the range of work will be even wider, and, of course,, the New Zealand section wishes to have a shave worthy of this country's bright reputation. It is estimated that about £10,000 will bo needed for various works amongst Now Zealand soldiers in. the local training camps, the camps of Egypt, hospitals, convalescent homes, rest camps, and the firing line. General Sir J. G. Maxwell wrote recently: "The Y.M.C.A. in Egypt lias done and is doing very good work amongst our soldiers in this country. They have' been an indispensable and valuable reinforcement to the permanent institutions, and have devoted themselves to camps where their services were most needed. I feel sure they have earned the gratitude of all ranks, and have materially contributed to their welfare, amusement, and happiness. lam sure of one thing, and that is, the Y.M.C.A. not only deserves, but should get, material support from all those interested in the spiritual and material welfare of our soldiers." The executive managing the North Island appeal consists of well-known and experienced business men: The Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, Messrs. Wm. Allan, D. A. Ewen, F. R. Russell, W. H. George, C. M. Luke, C. R. Smith, J. C. Port, W. C. Hemery, with Mr. H. \V. Kersley as chairman, and Mr. A. Varney as secretary. This committee confidently makes its appeal, realising the urgency of the need for a wide and efficient work among the well soldiers as well as amongst those in hospital and in convalescent homes, broken in the wars. Tho following contributions are sought: 2 at £1000, 2 at £500, 5 at £200, 10 at £100, 20 at £50, 40 at £25, 100 at £10, 200 at £5, and 'smaller amounts. The first list will be published on February 12. All contributions should be forwarded to Mr. A. Varney, general secretary, Y.M.C.A., Wellington, and endorsed "Y.M.C.A. National ,War Fund."
