INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION

ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. Mr. L. T. AVatkins presided at a meeting of the, Wellington Patriotic Industrial Exhibition, held on Thursday evening. Others present were: Messrs. J. _F. Atkins, William Smith, James Keid, Evans, and T, W. Leslie. A draft programme of entertainments to be held throughout the exhibition, was submitted, and practically approved. The exhibition, which is to last for a week at the Town Hall, will be opened at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, and the Prime Minister (Right Hon. W. F. Massey) has been requested to formally open the exhibition. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) will occupy the chair, and speeches will be made by Sir Joseph Ward, Messrs. 0. M. Luke, and R. W. Dalton (the newly-appointed British Trade Commissioner). The ser/iees of Jupp's Baud and the oth- Regiment Band have been secured, and either on© or the other will march through the City from -the Government Buildings to the Town Hall each evening, and also play inside the hall. Other attractions will be Rankin's physical culture team, Tracey's Y.M.C.A. gymnastic team, who mil give displays on evenings to be arranged. Tug St. John Ambulance Association is to bo requested to arrange for a class to give special displays of ambulance worls, which sliould be of especial interest at the present juncture. Arrangements are being made for a series of ten-minute addresses to be delivered by various speakers throughout the exhibition—lady speakers in the afternoon and men in tho evening. The hoadmasfcei-s of schools throughout tho Wellington district havo been circularised, requesting them, in the interest of commercial education, to form school parties to visit the exhibition, and, should they so desire, to give displays. The Commandant at Trentham (Colonel Potter) is also boing approached with a view to arranging a special soldiers' night.
