In continuation of her journey from Montreal the New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Waiwcra left Sydney for Auckland at 5 p.m. on Thursday. She is due at the northern port on Tuesday next, end at Wellington on February 12. VANCOUVER MAIL STEAMER. From Vancouver, via Honolulu and Pago Pago, the Union B.M.S. Niagara is due at Auckland on Monday morning. Her passengers for New Zealand number 811. The mail steamer will continue her journey on to Sydney on Monday aftornoon. WEEK'S SYDNEY BOAT. The Huddart-Parker steamer Riverina, which has relieved the TJlimdroa in the intercolonial trade, cleared Sydney for Wellington direct at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday. Given fine weather, the vessel should make port on Monday morning. CANASTOTA NOT COMING. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., local agents for the U.S. and A. Line, have heen advised that their steamer Canastota, which had been fixed to load at New York for New Zealand ports last month, will not make the journey. PALOONA FURTHER, DELAYED. Although the Paloona will arrive here from: Melbourne, via Hobart and southern ports, to-day, her departure for Melbourne, via' Jlobart, lias been further postponed from 10 p.m. till 5 p.m. on Monday. The vessel lias over GOO tons of general cargo to land here. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. It is Captain Sydney Kelly, late chief officer of the Mamari, and not Captain Kelly of'that vessel who has been appointed to command the Waiwera: . Mr. C. C. Richardson, having rejoined the ! Pateena as third engineer, Mr. G. Ronnie has conic ashore. . , Mr. R. Mcntiplay has signed, on the Maori as third engineer. i Mr. O. Dilner has joined the Whangape as chief engineer. Mr. Francis W. Collins, late third officer of tho Aparima, has passed his examination at Lyttclton for a chief officer's certificate.
'After landing over 11,000 feet .of Greymouth timber at Wellington, the Karamu will be sent ou to Dunedin at 3 p.m. on Monday with general cargo. Before taking her departure for Nelson and New Plymouth to-day, the Corinna will put* out about 300 tons of cargo here. The local office of the Union Company was advised yesterday'that the Kauri had arrived at San Francisco with her cargo of wool from New Zealand ports. She visited Wellington and Napier, and took away a full load from the latter port on December 29. The local agents for the C. and D. Line do not. expect the Port Augusta to arrive from New York, via the south, till tomorrow at the earliest. As the Indrapura lias to make calk at Gisborno and Napier coming down the coast she will not arrive hero from London, via Auckland, till about Fobruary 9. About BCO tons of. cargo will be landed here before the - vessel commences Homeward loading. On Tuesday lost tho Shaw-Savill liner Kumara, arrived at Cape Town from London. Auckland should be reached about February 22, and Wellington about a week later. Leaving tho stream for London shortly after noon yesterday, the C. and D. Line's Indrabarah took the following cargo from this port;—7oC6 bales wool, -1 bale skins, 1257 casks tallow, 320 casks pelts, 4 bales, horsehair, 27 casks lard, 24,826 carcasses mutton, 22,460 carcasses lamb, 1501 quarters beef, 200 carcasses veal. For the purpose of allowing intending passengers to witness to-day's march of troops through the city, the departure of the Nikau for Nelson has "been postponed, from 2 p.m. till 5-p.m. The new F. and S. liner Cumberland has begun her maiden journey from Home to Australian ports. Sho is a steamer similar ' to the new Devon, which is due here from Liverpool- about - the end of this month. Tho Cumberland' is in charge of Captain M'Bibbon • -
