Ameeting of the Labour Council attempted to debate a- motion endorsing the action of the Broken Hill strikers. The speakers were 'interrupted and hooted, and the meeting adjourned in disorder. ■ Tho Liquor Trades Union and the I Amalgamated Railway and Tramway Associations voted contributions to the strike funds. Melbourne, February 4, The Federal Government lias prohibited the importation of a cortain homeopathic medicine manufactured at Bo- ' logna, on the. grounds of public health. IMPORTANT DECISION. • WOOL FOR AMERICA. EXPORTS PROHIBITED. Melbourne, February 4. No further permits to ship crossbred wool to America will be issued. EMBARGO ON EXPORT OF HIDES. By l'elojraph.—Press Association. Auckland, February 4. The prohibition of the export of crossbred wool from Australia, announced ia to-day's cables, indicates that the Commonwealth is falling into line with the policy adopted by New Zealand from the Bth ult., on instructions from the Imperial authorities. Cabinet has .also decided to prohibit tho export of dry salted hides of 451b.' or over, as has already heen done in Australia, and tho reason is that hides are becoming scarce in New Zealand, and a large quantity is required for military purposes.
