MASTERTON NOTES
The Amateur Athletic Club held an evening run on Thursday. A 75yds. event was won bv W. Hughes, and a 440 yds. handicap by W. Candy. Two or three wounded soldiers who returiied by the Rotorua arrived 'on Friday evening, and were accorded a public welcome. . The_ 1915 session of • tlie Masterton Technical School closed with a roll number of 456. The sum of £249 10s. 6d. was received in fees for the year, pompared with £1.72 14s. Gd. in the previous year. The salaries paid yto teachers amounted to £746 17s. od. The year closed with a debit balance of £64 12s. Cd. Sheep-dipping operations are" now in progress in the Masterton disti'ict. A farewell social was tendered on Thursday evening to Pipe-Major C. C. M'Donald and Corporal Rod M'lvor, of the Wairarapa Caledonian Pipe Band, both of whom have enlisted for service abroad. The Solway Girls' College is to be officially opened on Tuesday next.
