The prices quoted are those reported for the first quality of each description c.f commodities specified in the "Return of Market Prices," issued weekly by the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, except in the case of lard, the prices of which have boon obtained from the "Prices Current" published in the "Grocer.'" It should be remembered that, the expenses of retailing have increased as well as the wholesale prices of tho articles. The .-average increases in retail prices may, consequently, be somewhat greater than the increases shown above without increasing the profits of the retailer.
