NATIONAL RESERVE
The following is a portion of a circular that has been issued to members of B Company, Ist Regiment, of the National Reserve (Wellington East): — "The attendance at parades of late has not been at all good and the first parade of this year, held on Tuesday last, was anything but encouraging to those concerned; "The enrolled strength of the company is 230. Prom an average of 90 for the first few months the attendance has now dwindled down below 50, and though every effort has been made to discover why, no reason has been found for such a serious decrease. ■ "After careful consideration the officers and committee feci that if a decided improvement is not made in. the attendance.they will most reluctantly haveto consider the advisability of informing headquarters that the company cannot carry on. "At the same'time, it is felt that another appeal should bo made to members to realise their responsibilities. Let each man ask himself why he joined the National Reserve; then, why does he not attend parades? Your officers and committee ask that they bo notified at once, so that if the member concerned cannot attend, he may be transferred from the active to the honorary branch of the Reserve. Now members will be welcomed, and for those who feel that they require some coaching special drills will be arranged.
