GRADING OF TEACHERS

« — SCHEME INAUGURATED. By TeleeiaDh— Press Association. Dunedin, February 3. The Hon. J. A. Hanan, who went'to Invercargill to-day, informed a reporter that the work of grading all certificated teachers in the Dominion liad been inaugurated, and the AssistantDirector of Education, Mr. Caugliley, was now formulating a scheme for the consideration of Dr. Anderson, Director. Regulations will be drawn_up indicating in what ways the grading list will form the basis on which appointment .of teachers will be made. The result of the scheme will be that all positions in the schools will be open to teachers. Mr. Caughley will meet the inspectors in various centres to explain and initiate the scheme. He is now in Auckland, and is expected to complete his visits by about March 18.
