Under the Imperial Government Supplies Scheme, tho Department entrusted with tho work has dispatched to January 31 442,709 quarters of beef, 2,400,36G carcasses of . mutton, and 3,478,881 carcasses of lamb in 70 steamers, of which 12 are now on tho water and 58 have arrived at destination.
For the meat £'6,864,310 has been paid. The contributions of {lie two islands is as follow:—
N. Island. S. Island. 13eef, quarters 300,385 82,324 Mutton, carcasses 1,642,719 707,647 Lamb, carcasses ... 1,827,893-2,160,988 This quantity has been shipped since March 3, 1915.
The Department also operates the shipment of cheese to the Imperial Government for army uses. From November 4, when the scheme commenced. 4393 tons of cheese have been shipped, for which payments amounting to £296,427 hare been made.
All schcelite produced in the Dominion was requisitioned on Imperial account as from September 20. To January 31, 72 tons have been shipped', for which payments amounting' to £13,297 have been' made.
