PALOONA DELAYED BY FOG. The Paloona, bound from Melbourne and Hobart, via Bluff, to Wellington was considerably delayed outside Otago Heads yesterday on account of fog. It was expected to dispatch her for Lyttelton this afternoon, and- she will not arrive hero till haturda.v morning. Departure will bo taken for Hobart and Melbourne at noon the same day. ARAWA LEAVES LONDON. Cable advice has been received by the head office of the Shew, Savill, and Albion Company stating that R.M.S. Arawa left London on January 29 for New Zealand ports. She will make a call at Wellington about March 15 to land passengers, mails, and periodicals/ proceeding' thence to Auckland to commence discharge of general cargo. Later on. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin will be visited for the same purpose. RUAHINE'S DAIRY PRODUCE. She should arrive hero in time to commence dischargo on Saturday morning. A new system, of signalling the arrival of boats at Napier was put into operation oil Tuesday at the Bluff Hill station. When a boat from the north is in sight a red pennant will be hqieted and a blue square when the arriving boat is from tho south. 'Jlouatr" flags, designating the ownership of the arriving vessels, will be flown under the recognised signals, when possible, with a view to giving those interested as much information as possible. _ The Government steamer Hinemoa, which is on her periodical visit to northern lighthouses, will leave Russell for the north to-day. The F. and S. Line's new. steamer Devon has proved herself a particularly fast vessel. On her maiden run from Liverpool to Australia she averaged over 13 knots per hour. When discharge has been completed on the other side the new steamer will leave Sydney on February 12 to load Homeward in Now Zealand. The Japanese steamer Tennerin Maru is expected at Auckland towards the end of Fobruary with a cargo of sulphur, superphosphates, and manures from Hakodate. She is under charter tb Kempthorne, Pros6er, and Co. In continuation of her journey from Liverpool to New Zealand ports the F. and S. chartered steamer Tongariro is scneduled to leave Sydney on Saturday for Auckland. Being duo- there .on February 11 the vessel 6hould reach Wellington on February 18. About Monday next the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Talawa is duo at Auckland from Now. York. Wellington should bo visited about February 14. Last evening the Shaw-Savill liner Pakelia left for Gisborno and other northern ports. LoatUng will be completed at Auckland and departure taken for London about February 11. The same company's Tainni is expected to clear , this port for the south to-morrow. Tho Arahurai arrived at Greymouth from Wellington, via way ports, at 9.45 a.m. yesterday, and left on the return trip at 7 p.m. , ■ It is anticipated that the C. and D. liner Port Augusta will now arrive at WeUington to-morrow from New. York, via southern ports.
