The superintendent -of the Boss Goldfiolds reports as follows on the work at the mine for the two weeks ended January 27:—The connecting driyo from the east drive through to No. 6 level has been completed, and development again resumed. No. 19 north drive has advanced 10 feet in low(rrado wash, and an oast drive started off No. 17 north drive, has advanced. 26 in fair-grade wash. Blocking is procccdni| off No. 11 north drive and No. 12Eouth MURRAY CREEK. The mine manager of tho Murray Creek Gold Mining Company, Limited, reports for month ended January 31 as follows:—"No. 3 level has been driven'south 67 feet, making a total distance driven on reef of 257 feet. The last 60 feet driven Bhowe an average width of reef of 2ft. 6in. Stoping has been continued from both tho intermediate and No. 3 levels, and 492 tons of quartz have been sent to tho mill. Owing to the dry spell only five head ot stamps have been working during the greater part ot the month. Since January 26 the ten' heads .have been running, and. up "to the present ive havo plenty of water. lam taking full advantago of tho present supply of water, and, therefore, do not intend to clean up tho battery until the middle of February. The amount of amalgam on hand is about 500 ounces. I have let «• contract for sinking the shaft a further 125 fect at £5 per foot. As eoon as a chamber is cut .out and other preliminary work completed a commencement will bo made in sinking tho shaft. Everything is going along satisfactorily at the mine. The stopes in No. 3 level and also. in the intermediate level are looking well."
