KARORI & MAKARA FLOWER SHOW

THE PIUZE LIST. I Tho Karori and Makara. Flower .Show held in aid of St. Mary's Parish Funds was opened in tho Parochial Hall, Karori, yesterday afternoon, by Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P. The entries in some o'.' the classes, notably pot plants, vegetables, and, in the cut liowers, begontas and gladioli, were particularly good, and the show, though a small one, had much that was of interest to flower and vegetable growers. A very fine display of flowering pot and foliage plants was made by L. K. M'Lachlan (for Mr. S. ICirkcaldie), and by G. Fern (the Hon. C. J. Johnston), and Mr. Jackson, of Vogeitown, sent, in a number of beautiful bbgonias and gladioli, the colouring and form of tho former being really admirable, for wliich he received a special prize of merit. The judges were: Miss Poole, for tho cut liowers, Mr. W. Jay for vegetables and open classes, and Mrs. B. G. 11. Burn for tho home produce. 111 charge of the afternoon tea were: Mrs. Tustin, Miss Henderson, and Mrs. F. V. Waters. Mr. Sunley carried out the ■secretarial duties of the show. Tho prize list is as follows:—Amateur Section—Roses, T. R. Bovs; three blooms, rod; Mrs. J. H. Shine, also special prize; three blooms, pink, Mis. J. H. Shine; three blooms, yellow, T. R.. Boys; three stems climbers, Mrs. Shine". Carnations.—Three blooms, distinct varieties, Mrs. J. H. Shine; three blooms, Decked, Mrs. J. H. Shine; three blooms picoteos, Mrs. J. 11. Shine; threo blooms, selfs, Mrs. J. H. Shine.' Sweet Peas.—Three distinct varieties, T. R. Boys, and special; one vase, any variety, T. 11. Boys; one vase, white or cream, T. R. Boys; one vase, blue or lavender, T. R. Boys; 0110 vase, pink, T. R-. Boys; six vases, distinct varieties, T. R. Boys. I Dahlias.—Three blooms cactus, T. R.
