Rangiotu Orders state: —It is notified for tho information" of all ranks that this draft (3rd and 4th Battalions) will be considered as on active service from February 1. Leave for ;tho Tenth. Featherston orders state' that the following aro the arrangements for ex-, tended leave of 10th Reinforcements, Mounted and Ist and 2nd Reserve Squadrons, 10th Reinforcements Army Service Corps, and 10th Reinforcements Vetermary Corps:— Men for Christcliurch and stations south will leave Featherston Station by tho 8.28' a.m. train on February 0, and connect with steamer leaving Wellington for Lytteiton at 745 p.m. These men will return by steamer, leaving Lytteiton on February 10, and connect with special train leaving Wellington 3.15 p.m. on February 20. Men for Wellington only will leave by ordinary train leaving Featherston Station at 8.28 a.m. on February. 9, and will return by the special train leaving Wellington oil February 20, at 3,15 p.m. Men for north of Marton and Auckland will leave by the ordinary train leaving Featherston at 10.30 ou February 9. Tlieso men will return on the train leaving. Auckland 8.50 p.m. (via Woodville). on' February 20. From time to time different hutments institute a system of fines for bad language, the offenders having to put a penny or otlicr coin agreed' Upon in a tin or box. Recently, at a gathering of soldiers and civilians at Upper Hutfc a speaker referred to the fact that" one group of soldiers in the cfliup had collected the sum of 4s. 6d. in a week by, this means. The announcement' was received in silence, till a soldier asked: "What - was/the number of the hutment?'' ■* . „ , , The answer given was': "Tho oflicor's' mess." The Incorruptible Sentry. A sentry on duty has to be absolutely incorruptible. No' matter who orders or asks him to depart from his orders, he must not do so. There is ono story told—tho camp abounds in stories—of a sentry who stopped a soldier who was leaving camp without a pass. The soldier oxplained that he had a pound noto and a mighty thirst, and ho must get out. Whereat the sentry put. his rifle against the fence, and said, "Hold on; I'm coming with you." That, however, is not tho sentry of this truo narrative. This sentry was approached by an officer, who said: . ' "What do you mean by allowing your bootlaco to come undone while on sentry duty?" ' The sentry replied: "It was tied when I came on." "You will got into trouble if you don't tie it at once," tho officer said. "Here, lot me hold your rifle while'you do so." The soldiers never moved a muscle. "Do you know who I am?" the officer blustered, "I'm tho ; ." "Then you've got a good job,"" the soldier answered, "and I hope,you never loso it." He was incorruptible. - ;
