i NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PEP • VATE OPINION OF TEE STUDSBAKER. TiTe Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowing that wo aro closoly interested in Studebaker motors, have forwarded to ua a copy nf a Rngfhy business letter sent them by Mr. Allan IT. M'Lean, the en. eineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the 1916 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously given us permission to publish extracts from the letter, and we extract the following para«rnph as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of Studebaker cars:— ''Mv honest opinion about the Studebaker cai'is that it is tho best value for money on the American market, and as far as. and workmanship are concerned it is second to none. I consider that W9 would fee foolish to take up the agency for any higher pricwl car that is built here, because if wo repaint the Stude. Daker and equip it with wire wheels it would be equal to tlie Minerva in appear, anca and quietness of running. The en"ine is the cleanest designed one that I Fiavo inspected." It may bo explained that Mr. M'Lcau's mission toAmerica was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car 'to tako tho place of tho iirm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There is a goo<l market in TiawVa Bajr for the very best car obtainable, regard, less of price. Mr. M'Lcan's honest opin. ion regarding the Studebaker is that ther« is no American car oil the market better than tho Studebaker at any price. Tho five-seater touring Studebaker (i-cylinder, 25 h.p.), with electric self-starter and electric lights, sells in New Zealand for ,£3J3, the iliree-seater Studebaker, with sumo enuipniont, being priced at ,£335.
