; At the Petone Police Court yester-' 'day, before Messrs. Coles and Wakeham, * J.P.'s, Benjamin Jones was charged with assaulting "Walter B. Gough on January 31, and with obstructing Walan inspector under the Public Health Act, in the execution of his duty. Plaintiff stated that ho visited Jones's! residence for the purpose of inspecting some plumbing. Jones met him in tho back yard, and taking him by the neck ran him out on to the footpath. A constable was in the vicinity and arrested accused.

The Bench stated that Jones had acted wrongly, and must be made to under6tand that an inspector could not be interfered with. The' maximum penalty was' £50. A3 a heavy penalty was not asked' for, accused was convicted and ordered, "to come up for sentence when called upon.
