HONEY MARKET. The Bank of England discount rate was on January 2, 1914, reduccd from 5 to nor cent-, on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and on January 28 3 per cent. On July 30 the rate was raised to 4 per cent , and on July 31 it was raised to 8 per cent., and on Aufrust 1 it was further advanced to 10 per ccut. On August 6 t.hc rate was reduced to 6 per cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., at which rate it now stands. The linnk of France rate is 5 per cent., as against 4 per ccut. prior to the war. 01' EN . MAIUvET DATE. -The open market discount rate for three months' bills is 5 3-16 per cent., as compared with 5,\ per cent, last week and 1 15-16 per cent, last year. .Short loans arc quoted at 1 15-16 per cent., as against 1 15-16 per cent, last week, and 2 per cent, last year.
