Settlers are at present busy in the Pongaroa district cutting cocksfoot crops, some of which are splendid. Potato blight has been very prevalent in the IVniatua district this year, but a number of crops that "were threatened have escaped serious damage. The blight made its appearance during the humid moist weather a few weeks ago, and some growers gnvo up hope, but a cold snap followed and the ravages of tho visitation wore checked. "Many crops have now rcoovorcd and are showing good yields of tubers imaft'cctod by blight.—"Herald." Mr. C. A. Inues, bookseller, AVillis Street, "Wellington, advertises new supplies to hand of Will Lawson's books of verse, "The Three Kings," "Steam in the Southern Pacific," "Stokin'," etc.
