Occupiers werfe called on to show cause j in several cases. In connection with Section 12, Block VI, Owhango Township, 3 roods 7.4 perches, G. L. Winger, residence, twelve months' exemption was granted. In regard to Section 139, Block IV, Mangahao, 88 acres 3 roods 10 perches, J. Shanahan, residence the explanation Was deemed satisfactory. In regard to Section 10, Block I, Hawtrey: Settlement, Mrs. E. A. Monk, residence, exemption was granted,- and the selector was allowed to sublet until a transferee could be found. Correspondence and Miscellaneous. It was resolved to 'grant C. P. Lo Honore's permit to occupy Sections 1 to 3, 9 to 16, Block XVII, 'lownship of Horopito West, area 10 acres 2 foods, for a term of five years at a rental of ,£2 ss. per annum, subject to usual conditions. . It was resolved to fix the rental to be paid by C. F. le Honoro foe a lease of Sections 4 to 8, Block XVII, Horopito West Township, at £2 10s. per annum. to adjourn consideration for inspection. It was resolved to offer Section 8, Block V, town of Raurimu (extension), 1 rood, tor sale by public auction for cash. With- rel'cience to the resolution dated September 30, 1915, offering about 12 acres of timber on Section 30, Block Ill,.Makotuku, to the Rangataua Timber Company, Ltd., for JBIII, it was resolved, owing to depreciation by fire, to reduce the royalty to ,£O2 lis. With, reference to the resolution of September 3(1 .1915, granting , a permit to Messrs. Parker Bros, to Occupy old river bed in front of their Section 16, Block 1, Mangatme, it was resolved to cancel the permit, and instruct them that they must not erect fences on the river bed or t'he Toad reserve. . Messrs. Henry. Smith and Sons applied to transfer their milling license in Blocks V and IX, Hunua S.D., to Messrs. Stevens, Henderson iWd Co., Ltd., and it was resolved to approve on conditions specified by the ranger. v. It was resolved to determine the permit granted to A. A. B. Tegner to occupy Section 34, Pohonui V.S., area 1 rood, as from December 31, 1915, and to offer a per.mit under similar conditions io W. 'Wright. Permission was given to the Waimarino County Council to spend "fourths" from Messrs. S. L. Cameron's and H. K. Purdy's small grazing runs on a track giving access to Miirumuru Road joining the River Trust Block in Block XV, Whirinaki. It was decided also to allow the council to spend ihe "fourths" from Messrs. J. and J. P. Meehan's small grazing run on repairing the bridge over Ma-nganui-o-te-au River, damaged, by floods in July last. , A certificate of hypothecation of "thirds" derived from Sections 32, 33, Block 11, MangaoEe; and 11, Block X Tararua, was directed to be issued to the Eketahuna County Council. The schemes submitted by the Patea County Council and Ohakune Borough Council for the expenditure of "thirds" accrued to September 30 last were approved.

S. Lintern wrote asking ■ permfssion to subdivide Section 127. Block XIII, • Belmont (Korokoro V.S.J, 4 acres 1 rood 38 perches, arid sublet it in building lots as shown on a scheme forwarded by him.— Refused 'as there was no power to grant permission. '

It was resolved to grant P. Rogel a permit to occupy from year to year Section -73, Block XXII, Ohakune Town, area 1 rood 12.26 1 perches, also a portion of Crown land adjoining on the east, the combined area being about 3 roods, subject to the usual conditions, at a rental of .£1 15s. per annum. W. Greenhow, to wliom a permit was offered for the temporary occupation of 3 acres 1 rood 9 perches of tne Bumiy-thorpe-Ashhurst Railway .Reserve, wroi* that he considered tho rental asked was excessive. It was resolved to fix the rent at ;C2 ss. per annum.

The Under-Secretary of Lands advised that the board's recommendation to divide Section 3, Block VIII, Kaitieke, 193; acres 1 rood, between A. M. A. Millynn and H. Crowhurst cannot be given effect to.—lt was resolved to rescind the previous resolution and advise the parties concerned. S. M'Grafchi applied for a permit to cut silver-pine timber on the edge of Wainiarino Plains, in Sections 3 and 7, Block VIII, Manganui, and it was resolved to refuse the application. With regard to tho building on Croirn land near Owliango which. G. Boote was ordered to remove by a resolution of the Board dated October 28, 1915, it was resolved to adjourn consideration of tho matter in order that -Che Commissioner might personally inspect the property. It wa£ resolved that the undermentioned lots in Horopito West V.S. be no.t reoffered, but withdrawh from the Village Homestead conditions and dealt with in a general scheme for subdivision of the land adjoining, as recommended by the ranger: Section 10, area 9 acres 2 roods 16 perches, and Section 11, area 9 acres 2 roods 16 perches. J. J. Burn wrote with reference to a dam erected' on the Waiwetu Kiver affecting land in Epmii jTiimlct occupied l>.r himself and other settlers, and asked for relief,—lt was resolved to write to tho owners of the dam and request that it be lowered or removed. It was Tesolved to recommend that a renewal be granted to Charles Carlson N of his pastoral license, Baketapauma Block, fir' a further period of one year from March 1, 1918. at a rental of .£lB2 per annum,__under the provisions of Section 56 of tiio Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913.G. Bohni applied for permission to lease an area of about 1 acre at Kakahi recently occupied -by 1 ? . Gordon, who recently drew; Section 46 (Sale Plan 710), applied to be allowed to select Section 52 in the same block. It was resolved to refuse the appTication as applicant is not eligible.
