Tole was reappointed the Senate's member ou the lioaid of Governors of the Auckland Grammar School. Further consideration of the report of the Board of Studies was adjourned until Monday morning. Professor Chilton, presenting the report of tlio committee on tho syllabus of scicnco for the matriculation and entrance scholarship examinations, said that the present syllabus had been in use for only three years, and ono good result of it had been that the teaching of science in the technical schools had much improved. The thcrefcro proposed only a few alterations in the syllabus. It was also proposed that the authorities at Lincoln College should be asked to suggest a syllabus in agriculture for entrance scholarships. The report was referred to the committees concerned. There was some discussion as to whether the law enjoined that proposed amendments to' the matriculation syllabus should go to the Board of Studies. Eventually it was decided to refer this question to the Law Committee. The Statutes Committee recommended that Carrie Pierpont Wallace, 8.A., of Chicago University, be admitted ad eundem to the degree of B.A. in the University of New Zealand. Tho committee also recommended that the application of Agues Muriel Winter for admission ad eundem to the degree of M.A. could not be granted, as sho bcld no degree of a recognised university. It was pointed but that tho applicant had passed all tho requirements of the Oxford B.A. degree, but Oxford did not grant degrees to women, and therefore she was not a B.A. Both recommendations of the committee were adopted.
