, BOARD MEETING. At last night's meeting of the Wellington Technical Education Board, Mr. G. Frost presided, and there were also present: The Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, J. E. Fitzgerald, C. M. Luke, M. F. Luekie, W. J. Thompson, T. Ballinger, A. Atkins, H. M. Gore, G. L- Stewart, and W. H. Field, M.P. ' j Leave of absence was granted ' to' Messrs. J. P. Luke, W. T. Hildreth, and William Allan. _ Advice was received from the Education Department to the effect that the Wellington Technical College had been approved by the City and Guilds of London Institute for the purposes of Rule II of the Progress issued by that body. The 'Education • Department also advised that the Board of Education, Whitehall, London, woidd not hold a national competition in 1916, but that it was hoped to hold the examinations in art as usual. According to the statement of accounts, the pay sheet for the month totalled £763 19s. 2d.,, to which was added a sum of £55 for Callander Scholarships, December, 1915, and £3 Bs. 4d.> for war stamp' duty on cheques, December, 1915. The receipts for the period totalled £1145 14s. 5d., the credit balance being £786 13s. 9d. Mr. Gore gave notice to move at the next meeting: "That a sub-committee of the board be set up to go into ..the question of inspection of art Work in tho primary schools, and also the question of continuing art work in the higher form in the secondary schools."
