A pleasant time was spent at tlio Sailors' Friend Society last night, when musical items were rendered by Mr. M. Clark and party. A short story competition was entered into by sailors from ships in port, and mouth organ solos were appreciated. The missloner (Mr. Mooro) invited friends of the Institute to send in discarded books and magazines for the use of seamen. The evening terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to the performers, who wero as follow Jones, Miss Huntington, Messrs. Clark, Peek, Reynolds, and liorsley, Corson (Itualiine), Brewer (Cobar), ami Readmond. Sirs, Jones and Miss Purchas were the pianists.
