SWIMMING
CHILDREN'S CERTIFICATES. Mr. T. Shields, tlie well-known swiming enthusiast, was in attendance at Te Aro Baths on Wednesday afternoon, when a very large number of, children—both boys and girls—were present to take advantage of his tuition.' Mr. Shields has devoted several afternoons this season to teaching the young idea to swim, and it is his intention to be in attendance at the baths every Wednesday afternoon for that purpose until the close of tho season. Certificates will be awarded the following school children for having swum the various distances given in parentheses after tlieir names. The certificates are issued under the direction of Mr. Shields: —Nora Watson, Terrace School (1200 yds.); Julia SJwlaky, Wellington Girls' College (200 yds:); Ivy White, Mount Cook Girls' (200 yds.): Ifollie Ward, Hill Street School (600 yds.); Reta Swain, Mount CbiA School (200 yds.); Letty Gower, 28 M'Farlane Street (1800 yds.); Vliea Vauglian, Borhampore School (1 mile): Cressell Vauglian, Berhamporo School (250 yds.); Dorothy Nixon, Mount Cook Scliool (200 yds.); Agnes Walker, Boul- ' cott Street School (200 yds.); Thelma Sales, Clyde Quay School (400 yds.); Zelda Bailey, Clydo Quay School (600 yds.); Queenie Mulholland, 6 Tennyson Street (750 yds.); Muriel Richards, To Aro School .(800yds.); Kathleen M'Kelvey, Clyde Quay (1000 yds.).
