MASTERTON NOTES
Great preparations are being made for; the Carnival Week to be held in March, in aid of tho "Wounded Soldiers' I'und. Among other attractions will be a- bowling tournament, fire brigade demonstration, band contest, and amateur athletic championship meeting. The Masterton gasworks is a valuable asset to the town. The receipts from the sale of gas, cookcrs, residuals, etc., for the month of December amounted to £1084 19s. lid. ' A sitting of tho Native Land Court was held in Masterton on Wednesday before Judge Gilfedder. A coke crusher, which has been ordered by the Masterton gasworks, arrives at Wellington by the Tainui this week. The thermometer registered a maximum of 85 degrees in Masterton on Monday, and 87 degrees on Tuesday.
