The New Zealand Loan ' and. Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Pahiatua on Tuesday we liad a lair entry of 6heej> and cattle. Competition for the sheep was keen, especially bo for lambs, but there was little demand for cattle. We quote: Two-tooth, wethers, £1 Is. 4d.; medium b.f. shorn lambs, 14s. 6d.; small iv.f. shorn lambs, lis. 2d. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report that at the Woodville sale held on Monday there ivas en exceptionally big yarding of cattle, sfime five to six hundred head being yarded, and a larger yarding of sheep than has beou the case for a few months past. Cattle were, absolutely dead, and showed a drop in forwardconditioned store cows of from 255. to 30s. per head. Sheep, on the other hand, showed a marked advance. Woolly lambs increased a full Is. on the Tates for the past lew sales. Following is the range of prices: —40 fat ewes, 21s. 6d.; 98 forward ewes, 19s v Zd.; 51 good woolly lambs, 166. 10d.; cull lambs, down to lis.; fat cows made from £10 3s. to £7 7s. 6a.; fat heifers, £6 13s. 6d. to £6 65.; store cows, £7 2s. 6d. to £4 10s,; store heifers, ■ £5 15s.' to £4; weaners, 355. to £3 Bs.; bulls, 5,3 10s. to £10 10s. Messrs. Abraham (and Williams, Ltd., report that at their pahiatua sale held on Tuesday they had a large entry of sheep and a' small one of cattle. Cattle again were very slack, but sheen sold well up to the prices of the past week or so. We cleared all the sheep offered under tlie hammer, and the following gives an idea of the prices realised:—Aged ewes. 13s. 6d. to 15s. 7d.; good rape lambs, up to 15s. 10d.;'medium rape lambs, 14s. Id. to 155.; poorer lamhs, 10s. lid. to 125.; cull lambs, 6s. 7d. to 9s. sd.;' fat ewes, 225. 7d. to 235. 4a.; fonveid-conditioned heifers, £2 10s.; bulls, £4 to £7: empty store cows, £3 to ■€S; fat cows, ,£7 10s. to £9; extra pr-iine cows, up to £12 17u. 6d.; weaner steers, £2; weaner heifers, 355. to £2 10a.
ADDINGTON MARKET. By Telegraph—frees Association. Chrlstoiiurch, January 26. At the Addington live stock market there were moderate entries of stock and a. fair attendance. Pat cattle ivere slightly easier. A few lambs and fat sheep sold at about the previous week's rates. In store sheep pens of forward lambs sold well, but other descriptions were only fair. The demand for store e&ttlb anil pigs was dull. Store Sheep.—Good forward lambs, 13s. 7d. to 14s. 3d.; medium to good lambs, lis. 3d. to 13s. od.; small and inferior lambs, ss. 9d, to 9s. 6d.; cull lambs, 3s. to 4s. 3d.; halfbred two-tooth ewes, to 18s. 9d.; fairly forward four and six-tooth wethers, 16s. BUBNSIDE MARKET. Ouncdin, January 26. . At Burnsifle to-day there was a medium yarding of fair quality. For fat cattle a freezing buyer "was operating, and secured some pens, but the yarding was slightly in excess of requirements, and prices were about 10s. below last week's rates. Best bullocks fetched £15 10s. to £17; extra Prime. ,to £17 17s. 6d.; medium, £13 to £14 106.j others, to £12; best cows and heifers, £11 to £12 10s.: extra, prime, to £13 17<». 6d.: medium, £9 to £10; others, £7 to £8.
