MINERS WITHDRAW OPPOSITION THE BRITISH BLOCKADE . —9 According to a Turkish report—which was the only one to hand at the time this was written—there has been severe fighting, on both banks of the Tigris between Aylmer's force and the enemy. The Turks say that the British lost heavily. Further details of the Turkish debacle in Eastern Anatolia show that the Russians completely surprised the enemy, who fled in a panic. The Montenegrins are reported to be in desperate conflict with the Austrians, and the Gorman Press is finding the task of "explaining'-' the riddle to the German public somewhat difficult. The House of . Comons has passed. the Compulsion ' Bill, which is now on its way through the House of Lords. The Miners' Congress.has decided not to hamper the Government. The British blockade, which is to be sternly drawn tight, is the subject of various comments to-day. Ons commentator says that the British Foreign Office, by its'inability to grasp the situation, has been feeding the German Army.
