UNIVERSITY SENATE
THE ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting, of the Senate of the University of New Zealand was opened in Wellington yesterday. The Chancellor of the University (Sir Robert Stout) presided, and there were present: Professor J. MaoMillan Brown (Christchurch), Mr. H. H. Ostler (Auckland), Mr. H. F. Von. Haast (Wellington), Professor Marshall (Dunedin), Professor Benlmin (Dunedin), Professor Chilton (Christchurch), Professor Hight (Christohurch), Professor Hunter (Wellington), the Rev. W. A. Evans (Wellington), Dr. W. J. Anderson (Wellington), Professor Malcolm (Dunedin), the Rev. Andrew Caaneron (Dunedin), Dr. M'Dowell (Auckland), Mr. J. V Tibbs (Auckland), Professor Kirk (Weiliiigton), tho Hon. J. A. Tole (Auckland), Professor It. J. Scott (Clinstchurcli), Colonel Collins (N.Z.M.C.), and Professor Segar (Auckland). After the Chancellor had delivered his address (noticed elsewhere), Tho Senate proceeded to set up committees and to refer a great number ot questions to the committees for consideration. Among the unusual matters so referred were several letters (incl petitions from moil now on active service or in training asking for certain concessions as to their University course. Tho resignation of Sir Oharles Bcroen was accepted with regret, and the_ Senate by resolution expressed appreciation of his long and valuable services to the University.
