Something approaching the achisvemeiit of the members of the Church of Christ in Australia (which some years ago introduced the novelty of building a church in a day) was attempted at Lowfjr Hutt on Saturday. The members of the church at that place, finding their present school building inadequate to accommodate its growing classes, determined to erect a building in a day. All the material was on the ground by Friday evening, and at 6.30 a.m. the next morning a band of twenty-one workers commenced business. The structure is 21ft. long, 14ft. wide, with a 9ft. 6in. stud. There are two doors, and the same number of windows. By 0.30 in the evening the building was completed. Mr. Geo. Day, of Miramar, syrpanrised the work, whilst the plumbing section was in the handa of Mr. H. Coombe, of Kilbirnie. _ Representatives of the Churches of Christ at Wellington, Wellington South, Kilbirnie, and Petono were present, and an energetic Ladies' Committee attended to the refreshments. The structure has bad two coats of paint applied, one before the boards were scoured to the studs, and the second after they were in.position. The sight of such a large number of workers, and so many hammers ringing at once, attracted some attention in the neighbourhood. Lord Mayor gave a civic bull And banquet in the big To\rn Hall, The fizz and fuss made fun for us, We cheered for Belgian, Frank, and Ru?s. All church bells rang from daw'n till dark, .
