When the Arahura, leaves Wellington for Picton on Saturday,' January 29, it will be the last triy she will make in that service. Arrangements have beem made for the Pateena to make a call at Picton on Saturdays in future, when she is coming from Nelson to Wellington. MAITAI'S EXPECTED ARRIVAL. On account! of her late departure from San Francisco the Maitai is not expected to arrive in port till Monday, January 31. She will be withdrawn from the E'ervice for one trip, and will undereo overhaul. Tire uert .sailing from Wellington for 'Frisco will take place on March 2. E.M.S. CORINTHIO FOR HOME. At noon to-morrow E.M.S. Oorinthic will take her departure from tho Glasgow WTiarf for London, where she is due about March 8. Passengers are requested to have their baggage alongside the Corinthic bebefore 10 a.m. on sailing day. TURAKINA TO LEAVE HOME. . On February 4 the New Zealand Shipping Company's Turakina is cxpected to get away from London fur New Zealand ports. She should roach Auckland about March 26, and Wellington about a, week late.

WALKURE'S NEW NAME. The syndicate which, purchased the ei German steamer Walkure,- which was sunk by. German shell fire in Papeete Harbour, !s malting a success of the salvage efforts. During tbe course, ol an interview Mr. E. J. Lamb, of Messrs. Houlder Bros, and 0o„ Ltd., stated to a representative of the "Sydney Shipping List" that when ho was at Papeete on the way bock to Australia he inspected the coffer dam that had toen built' around the partially submerged vessel, and it was a remarkable piece of work. The operations were being oarried out under the supervision of Captain Curtis, who, had been sent nut from San Francisco with a party and all appliances in the specially chartered auxiliary schooner Chehalis, and by this time the vessel should bo afloat. It is .understood that the Walkuro is to be Republic when she is taken over by the owners. The Walkuro is well known m Wellington, having visited this port beforo war broke qut foj the purpose of having her' boilers repaired. She was berthed' at the Clyde Quay Wharf for several days.

CONCERNING THE BERWICK LAW. Running under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Berwick Lav? is due at Auckland from Montreal, via Australian ports, to-day. Tully has filled the vacancy. It is anonunced that the Flora, which leaves Auckland to-day for the- Eastern Pacific Islands, will not make the usual trip to those Islands during February. The Corinna is due in port to-morrow frdm New Plymouth with 12,500. boxes of butter, and 6000 crates of cheese for tramshipment to the Ruahino for London. The KowhaS left Wcstport on Saturday for Greymouth and the Bluff. At the lastmentioned port she mil take in cheese for tlio Ruahine also. Tho Mooralti's run across the Tasman Sea was without incident. She arrived here yesterday afternoon, and berthed, at the Jervois Quay Wharf to land passengers, and discharge cargo. Sailing for Lyttelton this afternoon, the Moeraki will return hero on Thursday, and will be dispatched for Sydney and Hobart at 5 p.m. on Friday—ono day late. Discha.tgo of the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer lUouw's New York oargo is impeded to be completed in time for the vessel to proceed on to southern ports at daybreak to-morrow. Sho had about 1350 tons on board to put out at tho Taranaki Street Wharf. A message has been" received to the effeot that R.M.S. Niagara, which left Vancouver at 4 p.m. on Wednesday last, was delayed at Victoria till Thursday morning ou account of the late arrival of the mails. It was hoped, however, to make up the lost time on tho run to Auckland, where tho liner is due on February 7.

It is anounced tliat the British imperial Oil Company's steamer Havre is due at Auckland from Singapore next month, in place of the Physa. The Havre is well known in these waters, and is a vessel of 2073 tons, in charge of Captain Pearson. A charter has been arranged by which the Kinross (Captain Treolecock) will bring a load of case oil from New York on behalf of the Yacuum Oil Company.

On Monday next the Government steamer Tntanekai will leavo Wellington for Lyttelton. After that she will leave for a tour round the North Island with His Excellency the Governor and suite on board.

After having discharged her coal and superphosphates cargo at Auckland, tho IhumaUi will proceed to Kjiipara to load for Melbourne. From Newcastle tho Eame company's Inga will go to Wanganui. The Joan Craig is at present loading salt at Kdithburg for Now Zealand ports.

Tho Americal mail steamer Sonoma left San Francisco at 2 p.m. on January 13 for Sydney, vi'a Honolulu and Pago Pago. She was at Honolulu on January 4, and is,due at Pago Pago on January 3, and should arrive at Sydney on Tuesday, February 8.

A four-masted schooner named the Commerce. 621 tons, lias been fixed to load luir-ber at North Pacific ports for New Zealand. The three-masted schooner Lizzie Vance, 383 tons, has been chartered to tako the November-December loading berth at North Pacific ports for Sydney, Melbourne or New Zealand ports at her own option.

When the chartered steamer Berwick Law, 4680 tons, lias completed discharge of licr Montreal cargo at New Zealand ports she will load wool and general cargo in the Dominion for Homo.
