IN WELLINGTON MILITARY

CITY SHORT
At the end of last, week Wellington military district was 73 infantry short of its quota for the 13th Reinforcements, who go into the training camps oil February 8. ' Of the five groups into which the district is divided four wero short of infantry when the official return was made. The position of the district respecting the draft was:— Quota. Secured. Mounted 132 259 Artillery ..I. 55 286 Engineers 32 102 Signal 8 37 Infantry 493 420 A.S.C. 15 105 Ambulance ......... 10. 102 There is no shortage ill any group except for the infantry arm, and for that branch the groups stand as follows:— Inf'ry. Inf'ry. Quota, secured. Short. City, and Suburbs 139 96 43 Manawatu and Wanganui 100 130 — Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay... 90 68 22 Wairarapa 67 63 4 Taranaki 97 63 34 The group quotas have been made somewhat different to the allotment previously announced.
