NORTH BEATEN Cricket 011 the Basin Reserve was not over-interesting on Saturday; the fate of the teams engaged had been sealed in the previous week. -East's strong lead over .North resulted in the win which was expected to t>o the outcome oi the match. East established themselves in a fairly safe position 011 the day the game was commenced. They scored 212 in their first innings, and North replied with only 101. North followed on, and made 178, so that East required only 08 for a win. These they secured with a loss of two wickets.
North's chief hopo o£ pulling the game out of the fire lvas Hiddleston. Ho did well, but the team as a whole failed.
Central secured an easy victory over University.
At Lower Hutt the match was Tesum«d between Old Boys anil Hutt. Last week Old Boys, who went first to the .wickets, put together 290, to which Hutt responded j vith 9i) runs for the loss of sevou wickets, j hen stumps were drawn. On Saturday, |
