SWIMMING
LIFE-SAVING TESTS. An examination under the Eoyal Life Saving Society's methods was held at Te Are baths on Thursday evening, when five pupils of Constable Andrew Dickson, of Thorndon Police Station, succeeded in gaining tlie certificate and medallion of the society. The successful candidates were: J. M. O'Connor. W. Thorns, A. Barnes, D. Driscoll, ana P. Thomson. Mr. Collier n'as the examiner. Constable Dickson las undertaken the task of instructing the polico force of the City in the methods of saving life, and it is expected that his generous offer will be taken full advantage of.
