DRAWING ON JANUARY 29. ' We have been assured that there will )>e no postponement in the date of the drawing of the M'Hardy art union, which is sot down for January 29. This promptitudo alone is worthy of public appreciation, and it is anticipated that the good people who are agreeable to do their part by speculating half a crown for the hoys who have done theirs, by risking life and limb, will take full advantage of tho last few days remaining in which to yrocurc tickets in the Manawatu Patriotic Society's Art Union. The prize is a cornet section in the business centre of Palniers•Jon North, valued at ,i£3ooo. A genuine oft'or of 2000 sovereigns already has been made for it. The laud wos given hv Mr. P. A. St' Hardy for the benefit of our sick and wounded boys. The books of (liis art union have been open to public inspection from the beginning, and the committee are keeping a weather eye on the expenses. Numbered marbles are to he used for deciding who shall be the lucky winner, and the drawing will ije under tho supervision of the joint bank managers of Palmerston Nortlf.
