LIVE STOCK SALES.

Messrs. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd.. TCport having held a most successful sale at their Levin yards oh Wednesday. Some special entries of well-bred cattle were advertised, on account or Messrs. Hammond, Gorringc, and Adkin. The entries came forward well above advertised numbers, and the Quality of the oattlc yarded was most favourably commented upon by buyers, 'l'he demand all through was exceptionally keen, and practically the whole yarding of both sheep and cattle was disposed of under the hammer at prices considerably in excess of owners' reserves. The principal sale? in cattle were as follow:—On account Sir. M. 11. 13. Gorringe: 16 forward four-year-old bullocks, .£ls 2s. 6d.; 40 four-year-old bullocks, £14 17s. 6d. On account Jlr. 11. V. Hammond: 85 three aud a half to four-year llereford-cross bullocks, £13 Bs.; 57 three and a half-year Hereford-cross bullocks, £12 lie.; 100 two and a half-year Hereford-cross steers, £10. On account Mr. W. G. Adkin: 40 three-year bullocks, £9. On account Mr. E. do May: 15 three-year bullocks, at £9 2s. 6d. Other sales were Empty forward cows, £6 10s. to £7 75.; two and a half-year steers, mixed colours, £7 Is. to £7 56.; cows and calves, £6 17s. to £7 55.; eighteen-month to two-year steers. £6 ss. to £6 17s. 6d.; two-year heifers, £4 17s. 6d. to £5 25.; fat cows, £8 ss. to £9; empty two-year heifers, £6 , 155.; fifteen-month Holdtcin heifers, £3 10s. to £3 15s. Sheep: Medium 6lnBZ lambs, 10s.; small two-tooth wethers, 18s. 9d. to x9s. fcd.; four-tooth Homncy owes, 245.; fat owes, 21s. 3d.; fat wethers, 245. Id. Messrs. Dalgcty and Company, Limited, Palmerston North, report having a very fair yarding of both sheep and cattle at their Huntervillo sale on Tuesday, all of which met with a ready sale at the fol- • lowing prices:—Cull shorn lambs, to 7s. 6d.; small mixed shorn lambs, to 10s. 6d.; shorn wether lambs, 12e. 7d., 12s. Bd.; mixed-age ewes, to 16s. lOd.; two and four-tooth wethers, 225. to 235.; empty cows, to £4 10s.; eighteen-month heifers, to £3 9s. 6d.; bulls, to £7 12s. 6d.; two and a half-year steers, to £8 36. Tho Jfew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Pahiatua. on Tuesday, we had a good entry of sheep and a small one of cattle. Competition was fairly keen throughout tho sale. We have to report a total clearance under the . hammer at the following ratesTwotooth wethers, 19s. 7d.-, w.f. woolly wether lambs, 13s. 6d.; medium shorn wether lambs, Us. to 12g. 5d.; cull do., 6s. 3d., Bs. 9d., 9s„ and 9s. Id.; cull ewes, Bs. 9d.; store cows, £4 195.; light fat cows, £7 15s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency 00., Ltd., report that at their usual monthly stock sale, held at Te Horo on Tuesday, they submitted a full yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep were dull of sale, but cattle met with good competition, and satisfactory prices were realised. They quote: Two and four-tooth wethers, 21s. 5d.; cull ewes, 135.; cull lambs, 9s. 3d.; fat cows, £7, £7 10s., £7 15s„ £8, £8 65., £8 155., £8 18s.; forward cows, £5 to £6 lie.; store cows, £4 ss. to £4 125.; light fat heifers, £5 to £6 125.; vealers, 245., 315., 395., 415.; yearling steers (mixed colours), £3 135.; eighteen-month heifers, £3 55.; bull, £6 10s.; woaner pigs, lis.; Lincoln ram 6, sold on account Mr. J. W. Bradey, brought 22 to 4} guineas. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at their Pah&utanui sale, held on Monday, they submitted a large yarding of both sheep and cattle, which sold under spirited competition at the following prices :—Two-tooth wethers, 20s. 7<L to 21s. 2d.; two and fourtooth wethers, mixed, 235. 4d.: fresh full and full-mouth ewes, 205.; cull ewes, low condition, lis. 6d. to 16s. lOd.; Romney wether lambs, stores, 135.; b.f. rape lambs, 14s. sd. mixed. lambs, 9s. 9d. to 10s. 10d.j full-mouth rains, £1 16.; fat ewes, 21s. 7d. to 225. lid.; eighteen-month steers, £5 14.; two-year steers, £6 6s. to £6 Bs.
