LOCAL TRADE AFTER THE WAR. By' Telcffraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, January .19. The annual conference of the Now Zealand Industrial Corporation was continued. Mr. W. W.. Charters (Canterbury) moved: —"That Industrial Corporations Bo asked to make a strong effort to enforce tho claim of New -Zealand industries to permanent support by the New Zealand public. Tho present inability; to import goods in daily use from the Old World lias caused an increased ejeniand for New Zealand productions, and this »hold on t-lio trade should not be allowed to decline with the declaration of pcaco; but we should endeavour to hold that extra trade .to assist this movement. The .corporation should discuss the question of the best means of< exhibiting New Zealand-made goods." A long discussion ensued, several members suggesting that the Government be asked to prepare a travelling exhibit with lecturers. ' A motion m favour of holding a New Zealand Exhibition after the declaration of peace was carried. The executive is to approach the Premier on tho subject. The conference endorsed the movement in. favour of an Empire trade coni foreuco.
