AUCKLAND FRUIT
Owing to the shortage which prevails in regard to stone fruits', prices are ratlior high in Auckland, and are likely to remain so for some time. The gross returns in the wholesale markets on Tuesday wero 40 per cent, more than for the same period last year. Burbank plums ranged from 2s. 6d. to 3s. 6d. per case, whilst English varieties realised from Ss. to 6s. 6d., and peachos were about 3s. to ss. Poor quality pears brought from 4s. to 6s. per bushel. Largo cooking applea are in good demand, the prices ranging from 6s. to Bs. per bushel, and the same prices ruled for dessert apples. Extreme rates were quoted for nectarines, ss. to 7s. being the prices per ease for good samples. It is expected that there will be a heaw crop of mid-season pears. Tomatoes fell in price, first-grade out-door fruit selling for.'4d. to sd. per lb. wholesale.
