At a meeting of the South Canterbury War Itslief Society, it was /reported that of tlie £35,000 Relief Fund to be subscribed within tlireo years, £2j,UUU had been received and £22,800 invested. It was decided to raise the total to ,£50,000, especially by appeal to miancial shirkers" who liave not yet given. It was resolved to telegraph tho Prime Minister offering the _ services ot the committee in liis recruiting scheme.
