Jockeys have more pluck than most men possess, that goes without saying. Take, as an example, Newey, riding the Grand National winner, Eremon, with only one stirrup for the last four miles, though bothered by the riderless Kathvale. The latest exemplar of the pluck of his profession is Herbert Jones, who, after riding for the King at Newmarket, went straight off and enlisted.
