At Raetihi tliia morning the Minister of Public Works met a deputation which urged the immediate completion of the I!actilii Main Trunk Railway line. The Minister, in reply, said there was no intention of stopping the work 011 the line, but that there was difficulty in obtaining labour and material. -The first half of the line would, however, be pushed <m with all the expedition that was possible, and it would bo ready and open for traffic in about four months time; the remainder of the lino would be proceeded with, but it was not anticipated that progress on this section would be so raoid as that 011 the now unfinished portion of the first section.
