OuV enemies, who forced this war upon us, aro responsible for the fact that the peoplo of Europe are still tearing themselves _ to pioces. "Providence is placing an iron test upon our people. "Our enemies' project of wearing down and cutting us off from overseas has failed. Our own agriculture is feeding our population, and our own industries are providing the means of defence. Our eccnpmic life has been maintained despite these wars and calamities. Tho German armies' achievements have been ef indescribable magnitude and heroism.-With our Allies we have held pur ground against tho world of enemies, and carried our colours far into the enemy's territory. The old Prussian military spirit, of which we are proud, has proved to be inextinguishable and vital, adding to the immortal glory and heroism of our forefathers. Wo face the future full of confidence in God and victory. Our singlo holy thought, is to give everything, to our .iast resources, to ensure tlie nation's life and' security. The general economic pressure has not shaken our sound Prussian finances, but their maintenance requires increased taxes. The healing of our wounds and the calling forth ot new life out of nur mighty achievements and sacrifices will be out biggest tasks when a victorious peace has been secured. Our entire manhood is -unitedly fighting in brotherly loyalty. What our enemies call compulsion is liberty, based on order."
