ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (By Tclegraph.-Special Correspondent-.) Masterton, January 14. The annual conference of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was held here to-tday, Mr. _J. Kennedy (South Canterbury) presiding. The balance-sheet sho)ved_ receipts for the year amounting to £185 7s. 4d. The annual report was adopted. It was decided to suspend the championship meeting until the termination of the war. A' remit from Marlborough: That the union be governed by a council consisting of ono representative from each financial centre of the -union," was rejected, and the remit from Southland: "That a competitor may, under certain conditions, be permitted to register and compete under an assumed name," was also lost. , It was decided that the union could not permit of a refund to clubs of its proportion of the registration feo at patriotic gatherings. It was resolved that the Axemen s Association and tho Pipers' and Dancers' Association be permitted to affiliate with the -union. , _ At the request of the Gisborne Centre it was resolved to remove the disqualification from G. Cunningham. \ It was dccided that the existing executive should hold office till tho termination of the war. It was resolved that tho secretary bo a paid servant, and his remuneration was fixed at £35 per year. . It was resolved to suspend publication of the calendar until the termination of tho war. _ . The chairman was voted £12 12s. in connection with his visit to Auckland m reference to the Northern Athletic Union. The confcrence expressed regret that the circumstances at present existing prevented a satisfactory settlement, and tho executive was authorised to make a settlement by reciprocity or any other means it might think necessary. It was decided that the next conference ho held at Christchurch. It was also decidcd to place oil record "our appreciation of the services rendered by New Zealand athletes in the present war."
