LIVE STOCK SALES.
Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, report having held their u'suai monthly sale at Waikanae on Tuesday, when they offered a good yarding of sheep and a fair entry of cattle. The sheep came forward well above advertised numbers, and competition for all classes was very keen right the sale. Cattle also sold well under the hammer, and at the close of the sale 'they had a total clearance of sheep, and eold the bulk of their entry of cattle. The prices were as follow:—A line of 200 shorn lambs, 9s. 7d.; email "woolly lambs,' 6s. 3d.; woolly lambs, 10s. 6d.; two-tooth wethers, 19s. Id., 19s. 9d., Ms. 3d.; maiden ewes, to 20s. 3d.; two-tooth f.m. ewes, shorn, 14s. 2d.; fat cows, £5 10s. to £7 12s. fid.; eighteen-month steers, £4 95.; bulls, to £6'los. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, ; report having commenced their Levin sales for the Jfew Year on Wednesday, when they submitted a good yarding of both sheep and cattle to a good attendance of buyers. The lines of stock' offered were good lots,, and consequently met with rather a good gale, and. they sold practio ally all of the entry under the hammer at the following prices ;—I'our and sixtooth shorn wethers, 225. 10d.; four-tooth to f.m. ewes, shorn, 20s. to 215.; forward ewea 21s. Id.; fat ewes,'2os„ 225. id. to 235.; fatcows, to £8 55.; maiden heifers, to £6 135.-lifteen-month steers, to £3 10s. 6d.; eight-een-month steers, £3 10g„ £4, to £5 10s: - two-year steers, £i 10s.; two and a half to three-year 6teers, £6 10s. to £7 7s. 6d.; cows and calves, to £5 125.; smell weaners, 9s. to.lis. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., report:—At Eketahuna. on fcriaay we had a small entry of sheep and a fair one of cattle.
